VTN Class 1 Personal Certificates

Class 1 certificate offers the lowest level of assurance and they are individual certificates and should not be used for authentication purposes or to support non-repudiation. The authentication procedures are based on assurances that the Subscriber has a unique name within the domain of a particular CA and that a certain E-mail address is linked with a public key. These certificates do not validate the identity of the subscriber and so they are not Persona-verified Digital Signature Certificates. Class 1 Certificates are appropriate for digital signatures, encryption and access control for non-commercial or low value transactions where identity proof is unnecessary.

In order to purchase this particular document, the applicant must personally provide all the necessary documents. The identification will be based on, at a minimum, a well recognized form of government issued photo identification and one other identification credential.
